About Vertipots

The story behind South Africa's most innovative vertical farming system.

The Inventor

Meet Louis Wilken

With over 40 years of hands-on experience in horticulture, Louis Wilken has spent a lifetime understanding how plants grow — and how growing systems can be improved.

Based in Pretoria, South Africa, Louis observed the same problems recurring in commercial growing operations: excessive waste from disposable growbags, water runoff, disease spreading through shared growing media, and the inability to monitor root health without disrupting crops.

Rather than accept these as inevitable, he designed and patented Vertipots — a vertical farming system built from the ground up to address every one of these challenges while maximising crop density and accessibility.

Patented Technology

Vertipots is a registered patent — a genuinely original innovation in vertical farming.
